This product poses a serious risk of electric shock and fire because when the product is switched on for some hours per day, it attains a temperature sufficient to melt the glue which loses its adhesion, allowing for the cover and tube to be pulled away effortlessly. Once the tube is pulled out, the bare electrical connections are easily accessible. In addition, the on-off switch is a push-fit version and can be removed without the use of tools, thus also exposing the bare electrical connections. There are two reported incidents of night lights catching a fire and causing damage to property. The product does not comply with the Low Voltage Directive and the relevant European standards.
