EU Safety Gate · Report-2008-8

Mia · Toaster

The product poses a risk of electric shock because:- there is no protection against accidental contact with live components (heating elements), since the mains switch is bridged (two blue wires) and there is therefore no all-pole disconnection from the mains supply. Depending on the position of the plug in the socket, both heating elements may be connected to the phase;- the internal wires are not sufficiently insulated and are not adequately secured, leaving the live and accessible components less than 4 mm apart; - the connection of the earth wires does not meet the requirements of the standard. One accident reported involving an electric shockThe product does not comply with the Low Voltage Directive and the relevant European standard EN 60335.
