EU Safety Gate · Report-2007-13
Unknown · Christmas lighting chain
There is a risk of electric shock and fire because the cross-sectional area and length of conductors as well as size of the plug outlet are not in compliance with Article 5 of standard EN 60598. As the parameters of the conductors do not comply with the European standard (they are thinner as laid down), there is a risk that during the use of the product the conductors can overheat and cause an electric shock. The bulb sockets are not made from self-extinguished material and fail to stand the needle flame test based on Article 13 of standard EN 60598. Therefore, there is a danger of spread of fire and electric shock in certain circumstances. This product does not comply with the Low Voltage Directive and the relevant European standard EN 60598.
