Testing has shown that the clutch mechanism on some of the products supplied did not meet the safety requirements set out by the European standard. The clutches on the affected units have been assembled without the correct torque setting. If the drill bit snags and the clutch does not engage then injuries to the user could range from broken wrist/hand/fingers to facial injuries. The injuries could vary dependant upon the warning that may be received by the user and also how well the user is standing/holding the drill. 9 incidents reported. Various injuries from broken fingers to facial damage. Authorities have tested another further 17 units and still find that the results point to towards a batch failure that cannot be easily identified.
