EU Safety Gate · Report-2008-17

HUMMER · ATV Quad bike

The product poses a risk of injuries because:- the plastic containers of battery acid can leak, which would cause a hazard to the skin and eyes,- the nut and bolt provided to hold the shock absorber in place do not fit together. If the bolt is unfastened and becomes loose, an accident could occur,- the material of the saddle is stapled along the underside and many of these staples are loose and sharp, - the chain drive near the operator’s left foot is only partially guarded, this may lead to a hazard due to catching of boot/shoelaces, The product poses a risk of fire and burns because: - there are two identical pipes in close proximity, either of which can be attached to the fuel valve,- the fuel pipes are fastened by means of small metal clips. These are supplied loosely on the pipe, meaning they can easily be lost. This would lead to the fuel line being insecure, - the driver’s legs are close to the engine and exhaust system, which may lead to burns.
