The product poses a chemical risk because it contains arsenic at a level of 15.2 ± 3.2 mg/kg. This could lead to absorption with consequent skin problems, low resistance to infections, heart disease and brain damage. Arsenic has also been shown to be carcinogenic (skin, lungs, liver, bladder and lymph vessels) and mutagenic (DNA damage). Arsenic is banned in cosmetics and personal hygiene products by the Cosmetic Directive 76/768/EEC.
