EU Safety Gate · Report-2007-26
MEGA brands; RoseArt · Magnets - Magnetix
This toy poses a serious risk of injuries because small magnets can be detached from the rods and panels in the sets. If two or more magnets or a magnet and a metal object are swallowed, they can attract internally and cause perforations, twisting and/or blockage of the intestines, infection, blood poisoning (sepsis) and death. In addition, the packages do not bear a specific pre-printed magnet ingestion warning label (the warning is present but is on a sticker label attached to the box). This toy does not comply with the Toys Directive.27 incidents in the United States and in Australia have been reported between November 2005 and March 2007. Not all but a number did require surgical intervention and a 22 month old child died in the US after ingestion of magnets.
