The product poses a chemical risk because it contains arsenic at a level of 18.8 (± 3.7) mg/kg. This could be absorbed with consequent skin problems, low resistance to infection, heart disease and brain damage. Arsenic has also been shown to be carcinogenic (skin, lungs, liver, bladder and lymph vessels) and mutagenic (DNA damage). Arsenic is banned in cosmetics and personal hygiene products by the Cosmetics Directive 76/768/EEC.
