EU Safety Gate · Report-2007-33
Unitec · Remote-controlled socket
The notified product poses a risk of electric shock because all six tested remote-controlled sockets had a too wide gap between the earth contacts (between 29.3 mm and 31.5 mm). This means that a safe connection between appliances plugged in and the earth wire is not ensured. The notified product poses a risk of fire because in the load test the socket’s printed-circuit board caught fire, and the temperature of the socket contacts rose by more than 100 K. This product does not comply with the Low Voltage Directive and the R&TTE Directive and the relevant European standards.
