EU Safety Gate · Report-2010-35
Playshoes · Bathing shoes
The product poses a chemical risk because it contains 0.7% by weight of dibutyl phthalate (DBP), 4.5-4.7% by weight of bis (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) and 21,1-21,2 of di-"isobutyl" phthalate. The bathing shoes may be worn by a child on its naked feet during long hours (at the beach) in the hot sunshine. The child's feet would thus be in intense contact with the plastic of the shoes, and thus the child's exposure to phthalates could be very high.
