Solders in the USB connector contains lead (measured value up to 20.6% by weight) and the white plastic of the cable contains an excessive amount of short chain chlorinated paraffin (SCCPs) (measured value up to 3.5% by weight). Exposure to lead is harmful for human health and can cause developmental neurotoxicity. SCCPs persist in the environment, are toxic to aquatic organisms at low concentrations and bioaccumulate in wildlife and humans, posing a risk to human health and the environment. The product does not comply with the REACH Regulation and the Regulation on persistent organic pollutants (POP Regulation).
