EU Safety Gate · Report-2023-44
Mercedes-Benz · SL-Class
Due to improper installation, the 12V starter/generator wiring harness could come into contact with the drive shaft, causing abrasion over time. As a result, a short circuit may occur leading to an unexpected sudden loss of propulsion, increasing the risk of an accident. Moreover, strong electrical currents that may flow through the connection could cause an increase in temperature in the affected area, increasing the risk of fire. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
