EU Safety Gate · Report-2012-052
Range Rover · Evoque
In very extreme cases, fatigue failure of one or both of the steering gear mounting fixings may occur. Should both bolts fatigue, the steering gear will slip into a fixed position within the vehicles front sub-frame, restricting the available steering lock. Restricted steering lock would prevent the driver from being able to steer the vehicle as normal. Should this occur, the driver may not be able to take evasive steering action in an emergency, leading to an increased risk of a vehicle crash.
